Scaling with Purpose: Insights from OneVizion’s Chairman
For Rusty Gordon, stepping into the Interim Chairman role at OneVizion has sharpened a perspective years in the making. What’s becoming clear is not just that the company is gaining ground, but why: buyers are no longer looking for tools that solve isolated problems. They’re looking for platforms that can keep entire operations moving. And that shift is playing directly to OneVizion’s strengths.
Q&A
Q: Six months into your role as Interim Chairman — how has your view of OneVizion’s position in the market evolved?
A: I have actually been involved with the company for several years, though I have only been serving as Chairman for the last six months. What I have seen more clearly in that time is our position strengthening in the market. That is being driven by two things. First, our emerging leadership in AI. Second, a shift in what buyers are actually looking for. They are no longer just trying to solve a single problem with a point solution. They are looking for a platform that can drive efficiency across the full scope of their operations. That is where OneVizion is increasingly resonating.
Q: You’ve spent decades watching technology companies succeed and fail at scale. What does OneVizion have that most companies at this stage don’t?
A: Over the past decade, the software industry has leaned heavily into go-to-market strategies built around MVP offerings. That approach has created a lot of systems that work in isolation but break down when you try to scale them across a real enterprise environment. They become bloated, disconnected, and difficult to adapt as the organization evolves. What sets OneVizion apart is that we were not built that way. Our platform is designed to operate at scale from the beginning and to adjust as complexity increases. That is a meaningful difference. It is also why we can be trusted to deliver in environments where many others struggle.
Q: When you look at the competitive landscape, what’s the market getting wrong — and where does OneVizion have the advantage?
A: The biggest mistake I see in the market is allowing immediate needs to dictate long-term decisions. Organizations solve for today’s pressure and, in doing so, limit their ability to adapt tomorrow. They end up selecting tools that meet a short-term requirement but create long-term constraints. The companies that take a more disciplined, forward-looking approach tend to arrive at a different conclusion. Those are the ones that choose OneVizion.
Q: Infrastructure management has been slow to modernize. What’s finally changing, and why does it matter now?
A: Infrastructure management has been slow to modernize, but that is changing quickly. The introduction of AI, combined with broader market demands, is placing new and significant pressure on industries like telecom, power and energy, and fiber. These organizations are being asked to operate faster, with more visibility, and with greater precision than ever before. The systems they have relied on historically were not designed for that level of demand. Status quo is no longer viable, and that is forcing a shift.
Q: What do you want customers, partners, or investors to understand about where OneVizion is headed?
A: Whether by design or timing, we are well positioned for the moment we are in. We are a financially strong and reliable business with a track record of solving complex problems for large, demanding customers. At the same time, we have a clear and informed view of where the market is going, particularly as it relates to the practical use of AI. What makes OneVizion unique is that we operate in a range that is difficult to achieve. We are large enough to be trusted with critical infrastructure and complex programs, but still small enough to respond quickly to changing conditions and customer priorities. That balance matters, especially in a market that is evolving as quickly as this one.
